Colour blindness

Colour blindness is another factor which can affect a client's ability to use a website. There are software packages which:

  1. permit a person who is not colour blind to view a web page as it would appear to a colour blind person. This can be a useful check for library staff before recommending a website.
  2. Use image processing techniques to make web pages clearer for those with colour blindness.

Go to http://www.vischeck.com/vischeck/ and try the "vischeck" procedure on some webpages which you commonly use. How readable would they be to a client with colour blindness?

The SLIC website (http://www.slainte.org.uk/SLIC/sliclibissues/access) provides information on webpage design support and PC accessibility issues.
